Report: Pre-Kindergarten Math, Science Will Help Kids Excel
A new report says students will have more success in math and science if they are exposed to the subjects as early as pre-kindergarten.
The report released by Wheelock College's Aspire Institute on Wednesday, May 5, said, however, that many pre-kindergarten and elementary teachers lack strong content knowledge and instructional skill to teach the subjects.
The report recommends that those teachers receive specific training in math and science. It also calls on colleges to elevate the two subjects. The report comes after the institute launched a study with the help of Boston area colleges and community groups.
The study was commissioned by the John Adams Innovation Institute of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative.
